Johnson's clearly a good writer and the piece is tight; he offers more in 1,000 words than some bloggers say in twice as many. But the argument is worn-out and would get roundly mocked if it appeared on TrueHoop or Deadspin...which is why, of course, Johnson's the one getting paid to pen this stuff.
