…..to Kendrick Perkins’ Janet Jackson.

[This is essentially a repurposed photo suited to needs of the Wizards.....all thanks to the guys at The Sports Hernia Blog - "Kendrick Perkins instantly in contention for worst nip slip ever"......great place BTW, put them in your reader.]
And really, what is going on in this picture anyway? Perkins has a stink face, D-Song has his eyes closed and lips puckered, and Antawn Jamison is either trying to avoid an elbow or smooch an erogenous zone…….lot going on…..but there always is, isn’t there?….a lot going on.

Do you Twitter (or Tweet….or whatever)?
If so, you may know that Truth About It has a Twitter feed, but the guys at Hugging Harold Reynolds have organized an outpost where you can find sports specific tweets (Twitter posts) from bloggers ’round the web society. It’s called #sblog tweets…..check it out.

[Wizards Outlet]
Another game, another slow start, and more inability to climb out of it because you’re physically and mentally spent from just trying to get even again. That is the position the Washington Wizards again found themselves in tonight.
[Wizards Insider]
Toronto, one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, finished with a 39-28 edge on the boards, made three more three-pointers and seven more free throws.

[Wizards-Magic Game 33 Blog]
[Ball Don't Lie]
Caron Butler looked really bad in the first half of this loss. Truly bad. Like, “he still must be injured”-bad. So when I clicked over in the third quarter, only to be told that Tough Juice was in the midst of what turned out to be a 21-point scoring quarter, it kind of took me by surprise. Then you remember that this is Caron Butler that we’re dealing with, and it all kind of makes sense.
[Wizards Insider]
Just a strange, strange game. The Wizards set a franchise record by scoring only six second quarter points but were still in the game with two minutes to go. After Antawn Jamison nailed a three-pointer to draw them within four, the Magic closed with an 8-4 push that included two Jameer Nelson drives to the basket, two Dwight Howard free throws and two Nelson free throws.
[Wizards Outlet]
The Magic gave the Wizards their chances, they committed 15 turnovers, which led to 13 Washington points. They let the Wizards outscore them in the paint 34-24 — a rarity that the Wizards outscore ANYBODY in the paint.

The Washington Wizards play the Toronto Raptors tonight….two franchises that have caused a great deal of disappointment for their fans this season. So, in anticipation of the game, I hooked up with Scott from RaptorBlog.com for a quick Q&A session. Read on….

1) The Raptors seem on the verge of making a run for the playoffs….what do they need to do for this to really happen?
I don’t know where you get the idea that the Raptors are “on the verge of making a run for the playoffs”. This team is seriously flawed. Their offense is average, their defense is subpar, their rebounding is atrocious and their bench is shallow. It’s possible that they could make a surge toward the seventh or eighth seed so that they can get stomped by the Celtics or Cavs like narcs at a biker rally, but I can’t fathom why that would be something to shoot for. This team needs to rebuild and get off the treadmill of .500 seasons and first round playoff losses.
2) The Jermaine O’Neal experiment…..verdict? The Basketball Jones podcast seems to think that J.O. is a hindrance to the Raptor offense. What say you?
Jermaine O’Neal has given the Raptors everything I expected he would in terms of post presence on defense, but it hasn’t translated into improved team defense or wins for some reason. If another team is interested in his defensive presence and would be willing to send players that would give the Raptors some 2009 cap space in return, I would like Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo to make that happen so that Andrea Bargnani can take over the starting center role full-time. Raptors management, coaching and fans need to really see what Bargnani brings to the table and I don’t think they can properly make that assessment with O’Neal still in the mix.

Songaila makes his first start of the season……and I know some may be griping about the Lithuanian at the 5 spot, but history tells us that he does play the best defense against Dwight Howard…..then I saw this, which was via this.
Q1
Of course, Dom McGuire handles the jump ball, and loses anyway.
11:45: I guess it’d also be nice to keep Blatche out of early foul trouble as D-Song picks up his own early foul…..but makes a jumper on the other end. 2-2 Wizards.

[yes, I'm using this pic in a post, again]
It’s the classic schoolyard gripe of a kid saying, “But Johnny was doing it too!” while neglecting to first and foremost admit his own responsibility in whatever the transgression may be.
What am I talking about?
A blog post by a member of the Cleveland main stream media of course….specifically, Branson Wright of the Cleveland Plain Dealer [via True Hoop].
In a post aptly titled, “LeBron James Travel? What About These?,” Wright shows that he is more than adept at YouTube research. He embeds his top 5 NBA travel clips and asks, “If James did travel, why didn’t the refs blow their whistles…..[for these other travels]?”

I’m not going to get all jazzy with an explanation of what you see above, you can go to the creator, Obsessionism, for all of that (btw….dude did this for all NBA teams).
What do I notice off the bat? This season, losing by 1-6 points is a muther.
“It called itself.”
-Bill Spooner, NBA Referee
I never thought I’d dislike LeBron James more than Kobe Bryant, boy have times changed. I don’t even mind Kobe that much anymore….I’ll never be a fan of his, but that story is for another time.
This LeBron James, he’s quite the character. At first it was his crying that got under my skin like a parasite. Sure Michael Jordan bitched and argued about calls, but never to the extent of LeBaby with his mouth holding, knee crawling, elementary school playground politicking ways.
Now it’s James’ sense of entitlement that irks me to no end. He conducts himself like the game owes him and not the other way around.
The travel call at the end of Sunday’s game has already been talked up to the level of epic lore in the saga that is the rivalry between these two NBA franchises from Cleveland and Washington, DC (and yes it is a rivalry despite Cleveland’s playoff domination — in my opinion, wins and losses don’t make a rivalry, rather it’s the spirit, intensity, and nature of the competition….granted that two teams are not already a geographic rivalry).
But afterward, there was no slices of humble pie from LeBron. No, “both teams played hard.” No, “the call could have gone either way.”

“It doesn’t make me sleep easier at night. I’m not going around shooting shots and throwing my hands in the air.”
-Antawn Jamison on his game winning shot [via Mike Jones - Wizards Outlet, Washington Times]
I take this as one of two ways: either Jamison is making a not so subtle dig at the antics of Gilbert Arenas, or he is highlighting the fact that he puts on his helmet, grabs his lunch pail, and simply shows up to work everyday…..nothing more, nothing less. And since Jamison is not the type to be braggadocios about his workhorse mentality (which seems intrinsically wrong anyway), I’m going with the former.
LeBron James, once again, on his knees and holding his mouth — right after a charge was called on him which led to his daddy, Mike Brown, getting kicked out of yesterday’s game.
Sure, it was a questionable call. Mike James of the Wizards had position, but I saw the replay, he turned his shoulder at the last second.
Regardless, is there really a need for all the dramatics? I think not.
Well, I’m not doing a game blog for the Wizards-Hornets match-up……which was soooo last year……because I actually attended the game. I’m down South visiting family for the new year, and my pops lives a couple hours from New Orleans (he’s a Hornets fan), so it was natural that we attended the game.
So in place of a game blog, me and my amateur photography skills present a photographic slide show of what I saw:
Game Observations:
- Gilbert Arenas was on the bench during the first half……I can’t remember if he was there for the 3rd quarter or not, but he was definitely absent for most of the 4th and down the stretch.
- Ivan Carter questioned Southeastern Conference loyalty when the local LSU fans booed players from Alabama’s football team in attendance (and then chanted “L-S-U! L-S-U!)…….but Carter forgot to mention that there’s more passion than usual between these two teams. LSU fans absolutely hate former coach Nick Saban with a passion (starting when he left the program to coach the Miami Dolphins). That hatred was magnified once Saban returned to the SEC to coach ‘Bama.
