Remember Wizards, Obama Lives in DC: Wiz-Bulls Recap
| February 28, 2009 | 7:57 pm
Barack Obama at the Wizards game - Truth About It.netHe came in cool wearing black and chewing gum.

The headlines today say that Obama should attend more Wizards games…..sure, why not?

But dammit if the Wizards shouldn’t give that kind of effort and energy all the time…..the guy only lives in the same city.

But props to the President….he sat court side, had himself a beer, and seemed to take a bit of heckling well (he was openly cheering for the Bulls).

Wizards May or May Not Show Up To Obama's Attendance of Their Game
| February 27, 2009 | 5:15 pm

Preparations and giddily being made for a possible Barack Obama visit to the Verizon Center this evening where his hometown Chicago Bulls will attempt to propel an orange sphere into a metallic ring tinseled with nylon.

While the President can fill football stadiums, he’ll probably only muster around 8,000 or so to come see him possibly watch what could be considered a basketball game.

The Washington Wizards, who have been seen performing acts that resemble the game of basketball at various times during the season should be in attendance. However, there is no word if the team will show up on the court.

Quote of the Week: Steve Buckhantz
| February 23, 2009 | 4:59 am

“He’s a smart guy, he knows how to play the game. If he had the body of a . . . Kwame Brown, he’d be an All-Star. And he makes the most with what he has.” -Steve Buckhantz on Darius Songaila

Watching (for the first time) Saturday night’s loss to the Spurs late Sunday evening, I’d never before considered an utterance praising D-Song and digging at Kwame in the same sentence. Thank you Steve Buck.

Pre-Trade Deadline Pimpin' With Caron Butler
| February 20, 2009 | 4:03 pm

You know……when we saw Caron limp off the court before Tuesday’s game against Minny was over, he wasn’t hurt, he was just doing a pimp walk.*

Caron Butler at Josephines via DC Fab* Caron Butler was really hurt, something with his hip (not serious)….and for the record, he’s married too. He once admitted, with no shame, to seeing the ‘Sex In The City’ movie with his wifey because he said he said he doesn’t have to “justify his thug.”

I hear ya Tuff Juice.

Wiz Hug It Out In Win Over T-Wolves

Antawn Jamison is constipated - Truth About It.netThe Wizards blew a huge lead in a matter of minutes in the 2nd quarter….so what? They won, didn’t they? [Game 54 Blog @ Bullets Forever]

Ok, so Antawn Jamison’s face at halftime above says it all. He was pretty much constipated over the 10 2nd quarter turnovers that let the T-Wolves back in the game.

One day this team will learn not to make it so hard on themselves…..but sucking wind is part of the growing pains, right?

The good part…..how ’bout that Javaris Crittenton fellow? Boy he’s coming along.

  • Love him in the open court.
  • He makes a mistake here and there in transition, but is not as erratic as you think.
  • Quick decision maker when facing pressure on the break.
  • Good court vision — becoming comfortable with where his teammates will be.
  • Willing to pass first, but also looks to make aggressive drives to the basket.
  • Gaining confidence in his shot — as evidenced by that huge bucket he hit with 55 seconds left and no qualms.

Reliving Caron Butler's Heroics Against the Pacers
| February 13, 2009 | 8:35 pm

Yep, us Wizards fans don’t have much to be happy about these days (wait, you are still a Wizards fan, right?). But even if you aren’t a Wizards fan, you can appreciate the below (except, of course, if you’re a Pacers fan).

I attended last Sunday’s match versus Indiana……the Caron Butler buzzer-beater game. I present, the pictures I took:

Game Run-Down:

[Wizards Insider]
Oddly, given how hot Butler was, Indiana Coach Jim O’Brien elected to not double team Butler on the final play. Danny Granger, who tied the game at 117 with a clutch three-pointer on Indiana’s last possession, drew Butler and had a hand in his face but it didn’t matter.

[Wizards Outlet]
Caron Butler said he doesn’t even know how he summoned the energy to torch the Pacers for 17 fourth-quarter points, including the Wizards’ last 15 and a game-winner.

[Bullets Forever]
How was Washington able to keep the game in check until Caron got cooking in the 4th? Give some credit to Antawn Jamison. He had 17 points in the 1st Quarter to keep things close while the Pacers ran up 37 in the first 12 minutes.

Rasho Nesterovic Left Creepy and Alone on Kiss Cam
| February 11, 2009 | 10:31 pm

Rasho Nesterovic Left Creepy and Alone on Kiss Cam
Opposing teams are starting to catch on to Kiss Cam hi-jinks. Some like Juwan Howard of the Bobcats give a casual wave. Some like Al Harrington and Nate Robinson of the Knicks ham it up.

Perhaps it’s because he’s always famously getting railed on by Stephen A. Smith, or perhaps it’s just because he’s foreign, but when it comes to the Kiss Cam, Rasho Nesterovic’s teammates (and a trainer) duck and cover, leaving him high and dry.

Can’t tell who’s ducking next to Rasho, but Travis Diener literally went running into the stands.

Poor Rasho….left all alone, looking like a cross between Jaws from the James Bond movies (and Happy Gilmore) and a creeper who is looking to diddle kids in a park.

Ed Tapscott is Completely Losing It
| February 11, 2009 | 5:38 pm
Ed Tapscott is Completely Losing It - Truth About It.netEven Wizards TV guys, Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier, had to comment in the post-game show on the above “display of emotion” after a Wizards shot clock violation.

Ed Tapscott Quotes Rosie Perez - Truth About It.net“Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic globule, from which one extracts what one needs.” -Rosie Perez, White Men Can’t Jump

And as far as quoting Rosie Perez, well, I would have loved to see the looks on the faces of Andray Blatche and Nick Young after hearing that one.

Needless to say, Randy Ayers didn’t think it was a good idea.

Back to Reality: Wizards Game 52 Blog at Atlanta Hawks

The Washington Wizards are back to the reality of losing - flickr/drp
Back to reality? We’ll see.

Q1

Wow, the Phillips looks emptier that the Verizon these days. The Hawks have the 4th best record in the East…..sad to say, Atlanta doesn’t deserve an NBA team.

11:45:
Caron misses his assignment to protect the hoop after Songaila goes to double Joe Johnson and Horford gets an easy dunk on Atlanta’s first possession.

Hmm….long missed jumpers from Caron, bad P&R defense from Mike James….S.O.S. (Groundhog Day) – 6-1 Hawks.

9:00: Yep, it’s 9-1 when Tapscott decides to take timeout #1.

LeBron James D-Bag Alert: Hatin' on the Cleveland Cavs
| February 9, 2009 | 11:13 pm

Wizards won last night….awesome, and I was there to witness it. I should be talking about that game, but I’m not…..until later.

There were other good games yesterday, such as my man Mase-ON aka The Potomac Rainmaker dropping buckets to down the Cs.
And then Kobe & Co. ruined the undefeated home efforts of LeBron and the Cavs. Never thought the day would come where my mind would produce this equation: H8 LeBron > H8 Kobe — but here we are (I feel like I’ve relayed this information before).

Washington Wizards: Being Injured is More Fun Than Playing
| February 8, 2009 | 5:08 pm

DeShawn Stevenson is laughing. Andray Blatche is probably thinking about laughing. Brendan Haywood has a smirk on his face. Even that random guy you don’t know, but always see on TV, is chuckling to the far right.

But if you’re actually playing for the Washington Wizards, things aren’t so fun.

Not to say that the suits would rather be injured instead of playing, but they sure don’t seem to be having a bad time like their comrades.

Party's Over Andray: Wizards Smacked by Nuggets
| February 7, 2009 | 6:01 pm

Well, to go from partying in DC one night, to this the next. Ahh, the life of an NBA baller on a sucky team.

Well, at least Andray Blatche has that $2,739,669 he’s making this year…..with $9,780,992 coming over the next three years.

But sheesh (pulls at collar), that Nuggets game got ugly fast. The Wiz had a seven point lead midway through the first quarter, but that lasted about the time it takes to microwave a burrito.

Dunk after dunk after dunk later, the Wizards were left with a 21 point loss that seemed closer than the game actually was.

JaVale McGee's mom is not impressed by the Wizards
| February 7, 2009 | 11:36 am

JaVale McGee's mom is not impressed by the Wizards - Truth About It.netWell, Pamela McGee certainly looked happier in this courtside interview back in early December.

Now she just looks morose, as put by Aldo in the Bullets Forever game thread.

For the sake of all of us, I hope there are better days.

But don’t be too down Pam, the guy at The Stankoniforous Files thinks you’re kind of a MILF too.

Carry on. Read more »
