He came in cool wearing black and chewing gum.
The headlines today say that Obama should attend more Wizards games…..sure, why not?
But dammit if the Wizards shouldn’t give that kind of effort and energy all the time…..the guy only lives in the same city.
But props to the President….he sat court side, had himself a beer, and seemed to take a bit of heckling well (he was openly cheering for the Bulls).

Preparations and giddily being made for a possible Barack Obama visit to the Verizon Center this evening where his hometown Chicago Bulls will attempt to propel an orange sphere into a metallic ring tinseled with nylon.
While the President can fill football stadiums, he’ll probably only muster around 8,000 or so to come see him possibly watch what could be considered a basketball game.
The Washington Wizards, who have been seen performing acts that resemble the game of basketball at various times during the season should be in attendance. However, there is no word if the team will show up on the court.

Innocence, harmlessness, and flair all rolled into one (or two).
“He’s a smart guy, he knows how to play the game. If he had the body of a . . . Kwame Brown, he’d be an All-Star. And he makes the most with what he has.” -Steve Buckhantz on Darius Songaila
Watching (for the first time) Saturday night’s loss to the Spurs late Sunday evening, I’d never before considered an utterance praising D-Song and digging at Kwame in the same sentence. Thank you Steve Buck.

[Runner-Up Quote of the Week: "Wizards looking for a little home cookin', but the stove is not lit." - Steve Buckhantz in reference to the refs.]
You know……when we saw Caron limp off the court before Tuesday’s game against Minny was over, he wasn’t hurt, he was just doing a pimp walk.*
* Caron Butler was really hurt, something with his hip (not serious)….and for the record, he’s married too. He once admitted, with no shame, to seeing the ‘Sex In The City’ movie with his wifey because he said he said he doesn’t have to “justify his thug.”
I hear ya Tuff Juice.

The Wizards blew a huge lead in a matter of minutes in the 2nd quarter….so what? They won, didn’t they? [Game 54 Blog @ Bullets Forever]
Ok, so Antawn Jamison’s face at halftime above says it all. He was pretty much constipated over the 10 2nd quarter turnovers that let the T-Wolves back in the game.
One day this team will learn not to make it so hard on themselves…..but sucking wind is part of the growing pains, right?
The good part…..how ’bout that Javaris Crittenton fellow? Boy he’s coming along.

Yep, us Wizards fans don’t have much to be happy about these days (wait, you are still a Wizards fan, right?). But even if you aren’t a Wizards fan, you can appreciate the below (except, of course, if you’re a Pacers fan).
I attended last Sunday’s match versus Indiana……the Caron Butler buzzer-beater game. I present, the pictures I took:
Game Run-Down:
[Wizards Insider]
Oddly, given how hot Butler was, Indiana Coach Jim O’Brien elected to not double team Butler on the final play. Danny Granger, who tied the game at 117 with a clutch three-pointer on Indiana’s last possession, drew Butler and had a hand in his face but it didn’t matter.
[Wizards Outlet]
Caron Butler said he doesn’t even know how he summoned the energy to torch the Pacers for 17 fourth-quarter points, including the Wizards’ last 15 and a game-winner.

Opposing teams are starting to catch on to Kiss Cam hi-jinks. Some like Juwan Howard of the Bobcats give a casual wave. Some like Al Harrington and Nate Robinson of the Knicks ham it up.
Perhaps it’s because he’s always famously getting railed on by Stephen A. Smith, or perhaps it’s just because he’s foreign, but when it comes to the Kiss Cam, Rasho Nesterovic’s teammates (and a trainer) duck and cover, leaving him high and dry.
Can’t tell who’s ducking next to Rasho, but Travis Diener literally went running into the stands.
Poor Rasho….left all alone, looking like a cross between Jaws from the James Bond movies (and Happy Gilmore) and a creeper who is looking to diddle kids in a park.

Even Wizards TV guys, Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier, had to comment in the post-game show on the above “display of emotion” after a Wizards shot clock violation.
“Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic globule, from which one extracts what one needs.” -Rosie Perez, White Men Can’t Jump
And as far as quoting Rosie Perez, well, I would have loved to see the looks on the faces of Andray Blatche and Nick Young after hearing that one.
Needless to say, Randy Ayers didn’t think it was a good idea.

Back to reality? We’ll see.
Q1
Wow, the Phillips looks emptier that the Verizon these days. The Hawks have the 4th best record in the East…..sad to say, Atlanta doesn’t deserve an NBA team.
11:45: Caron misses his assignment to protect the hoop after Songaila goes to double Joe Johnson and Horford gets an easy dunk on Atlanta’s first possession.
Hmm….long missed jumpers from Caron, bad P&R defense from Mike James….S.O.S. (Groundhog Day) – 6-1 Hawks.
