Thanks for stopping by slipperywhennets ... I'll definitely get you up in the NBA team blog roll when I finally get it going.

And yea, that's what I'm afraid of with Collins and especially Magloire. I haven't met (via the Inter-web) one Wizards fan who thinks Jamaal would be a good idea ... some are lukewarm on Jason.

It's just disappointing that the Wiz don't have their targets set higher.

Then again, I don't envy the position your Nets are in ... so good luck with that! :)

As a Nets fan, I have "first hand" experience with Jason Collins and Jamal Magliore, and, to be honest, I doubt either of them are capable NBA players.

Jason Collins is a great defensive leader - in 2007, he was able to frustrate Chris Bosh in the playoffs. The Nets team defense has great suffered since he left the team. However, he has become inept on offense. His free throws are horrendous, his once steady jump shot ricochets everywhere, he is very slow, and has no jumping ability. Honestly, at this point, he would make a better assistant coach than player.

Jamal Magliore, however, is another story. He is your classic NBA prima-donna, who will cause trouble in the locker room if he isn't getting his minutes and his touches. He talks tough, but does not have the game to back it up. Many see him as a "former All-Star", and figure signing him to a small contract is a low-risk, high-reward. In actuality, there is no reward whatsoever - just flush that money down the toilet.

Nice blog btw, got here courtesy of Ball Don't Lie. If you want - take the time to check out mine - slipperywhennets.blogspot.com

The more I read about Frye, the more I like him. He's still young, and with some work in the weight room, maybe he can get tougher in the paint.

However, his tendency to play away from the basket on offense makes me think he's more of a rich man's Oleksiy Pecherov.

I like Frye but I'd almost take an aging Rasho or Magloire for one year instead. Jason Collins is not an option.
