[...] First game is a head to head match up between two teams that both have two ex Heels on them. It’s the Cleveland Cavaliers going east to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center in front of 20,173 fans. For the Cavaliers it’s the combo of Danny Green and Jawad Williams, who both get 2 minutes in the game and neither have anything for the box score with the exception of Green going 0 for 1 from the field and a defensive rebound. For the home squad the two ex Carolina players, Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood, get plenty of action and do a lot with it. Jamison, playing in his first game of this season, gets 38 minutes at the power forward slot. In that time the ex Heel and NPOY under Dean Smith gets a double double, with 31 points (12 for 22 ~ 2 for 7 ~ 5 for 6), 10 rebounds (six offensive), two assists, a block and a pair of turnovers. Haywood, who plays 30 minutes, scores six points (1 for 1 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 4 for 0) to go with 13 boards and three blocks. In the end it was Washington over Cleveland by the final of 108 to 91. With the win the Wizs are now 3 and 7, while the loss slides the Cavs to 8 and 4. At Slam Dunk Central there is their recap of the game done by Jeff Sack. Truth About It also has their recap, entitled Don’t Call It A Statement, Call It A Rivalry: Wizards Spank Cavs 108-91. [...]

Yea, the Cavs had foul trouble ... especially when Hickson was picking them up early and forcing them to go small, whereas the Wizards tried to go into the paint more.

I know in the 3rd Q alone, the Wiz scored 14 points in the paint on 7-9 FGs while Cleveland only scored 6 on 3-4 FGs.

Maybe this was responsible for the foul discrepancy, maybe it was crappy refs ... I can't commentate on the validity of the games' calls. :)

Fouls and FTs weren't the reason the Wizards lost in Cleveland and it's not the reason the Cavs lost in DC.

And damn .... wish I got a bobble head too.

Painful to watch the second half as a Cavs fan. Jamison looked very, very good offensively, especially early on.

LeBron killed the Cavs' chances offensively in this one. Howevaaaaa, if you look at the fouls (hey look you didn't mention them!) the game was called extremely one-sidedly. With the Cavs front court already thin with Shaq and Andy out, JJ took two early fouls and got a third before the end of the first half. Z also had a lot of fouls, causing the Cavs to play D-Jack way too much.

A good win for the Wiz, an abomination on offense for the Cavs, and the saddest stat of the night for me? 0. As in I picked up 0 Bobblehand dolls. I have an old 1 wood ready and waiting at home to smash one of those guys down New Jersey Ave.
