Ok Garrett, thanks for commenting.

I still pretty much stand by my assertion, even though the Wizards are in a dire situation.

If they are going to trade Haywood, which I highly doubt, they are going to get a lot more value for him (as in talent), than just clearing some money off the books.

@ Truth About It. I can't give you a link to the Blurb simply b/c I saw it about a month ago and it was just a sentence saying Haywood may be available. That's what game me the idea of writing the article.

I give plenty of reason on why the deal should go down especially fincancially. Washington is among the top 5 pay rolls in the NBA and has what 4 wins to show for it? Why play lux tax for a losing team?

It's obvious a 29 year old big man isn't going to be in Washington's long term plans especially if they have a losing season this year so why not trade him away for young talent such as Balkman?

You say he cant shoot yet he shot 56% from the field last year. I don't know if you have ever watched Balkman play, but he has the energy like Chris Anderson, the skills to be a 10 rpg player, he's just a player that needs work. He's only 25 and would fit much better on a team that isn't in the running for a championship, in which right now I would consider Washington.

However, If Washington were to make a run they need depth. Szczerbiak may not be the guy, but I used him in the deal, 1 because he is a good 3 point shooter and DeSean Stevenson has fallen off the map with threes. Second because Butler is always hurt. If you wanna say McGuwire is better than Wally World then go for it, but I would agree to disagree.

I'm not going to try and change your mind, I'm just trying to explain my reasoning.

To start, saying that NBA.com had a blurb about Haywood being shopped by the Wizards without a link or attributing the report is irresponsible/questionable.

There has been absolutely nothing on any other site mentioning Haywood as being available. And as someone who covers the team closely with media credentials, I can't imagine from where this report would have come.

So, speculation is okay. But when that speculation is based upon a fact which is not true, that's when problems arise.

After that, overall the article lacks reasoning which could easily have been improved upon with a little bit of homework.

I mean, would the Wizards really trade their starting center, with the credentials I mentioned, so Wally Szczerbiak's "veteran leadership" can backup Caron Butler?

This makes absolutely no sense.

Of course, nonsensical things are written all the time, but it seems that in this case, the speculation of Olsen, which is okay to do, could have been improved upon had he taken time to fully research his topic.

Unfortunate, irresponsible, whatever you want to call it, it's just not right.

Ummm...so why is this irresponsible journalism? I am not quite sure. Olsen is not suggesting that the trade is in the works, he is suggesting that it could be one possibility. It is pure speculation, which is what plenty of journalists do all the time, simply thoughts about a potential deal. Read Ken Rosenthal every now and then, that is his M.O.
