NBA Summer League Kicks: The Leftovers Part 2

[Back for more sneaker heads … the first time we checked out what some of the Wiz kids were wearing for summer league, then what some of the others were wearing. Now here’s the second part of what players from other teams wore in Las Vegas.]

Brian Chase, Golden State Warriors

[via Dunbar H.S., Washington, D.C.; Virginia Tech, undrafted in 2003; Maryland Nighthawks (ABA); Gary Steelheads (CBA), Roanoke Dazzle (D-League); Nebraska Cranes (USBL); Los Angeles D-Fenders (D-League); Turkish Basketball League; French Basketball League; Russia A-Superleague; Spanish Basketball League — Chase played for the Utah Jazz in the ’06 summer league, was signed by the team for the ’06-07 season but was waived before playing a game, played with the Washington Wizards in the ’07 summer league, played with the Miami Heat in the ’07-08 preseason, but was released before the regular season, played with the Orlando Magic in the ’09 summer league and finally with the Warriors this summer. Chase has yet to appear in an NBA game.]

Scottie Reynolds, Phoenix Suns

[via Herndon High School in Virginia outside of D.C.; Villanova (4-years , AP 1st team All-American in 2010); undrafted in 2010; recently signed a 1-year contract with Prima Verdi of the Italian League Second Division.]

Josh Carter, New Orleans Hornets

[via Dallas, TX area; Texas A&M; played with Phoenix in the ’09 summer league; spent last season playing for EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the German League.]

Donté Greene, Sacramento Kings

[via Towson Catholic High School (2007 McDonald’s All-American, 2007 Maryland Gatorade POY); spent one year at Syracuse; drafted by Memphis with the 28th selection in the ’08 draft (pick via the LA Lakers in the Pau Gasol trade); was traded to the Houston Rockets; was traded to the Sacramento Kings as part of the Ron Artest deal; spent time with the Reno Bighorns of the D-League as well.]

Warren Carter, New York Knicks

[via Dallas, TX area — the older brother of the aforementioned Josh Carter; Illinois (2003-07); Dallas Mavs summer league 2007; Turkish Basketball League (Mutlu Aku Selcuk Universitesi Konya); Spanish League (Cajasol Sevilla); Latvian League (BK Ventspils); NY Knicks summer league 2009 (and preseason); Greek League (Ilysiakos Athens).]

Eric Bledsoe, Los Angeles Clippers

[via Birmingham, Alabama; this New York Times article; the University of Kentucky; selected 18th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2010 and traded to the Clippers on draft night.]

Wayne Chism, Sacramento Kings

[via the University of Tennessee (2006-2010); played with the NJ Nets in the ’10 Orlando summer league; played with the Kings in Vegas, but turned down an invitation to training camp and signed a 6-year deal with Antalya Buyuksehir Belediye of the Turkish Basketball League instead.]

DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings

[via Mobile Alabama, LeFlore High School (2009 McDonald’s All-American); University of Kentucky; taken fifth by the Kings in the ’10 draft.]

Omar Samhan, Dallas Mavericks

[via St. Mary’s College, CA; a workout with the Wizards (amongst other teams) — here’s the book on Samhan pre-Wizards workout, and the interview afterward;  played with the Mavs in the 2010 Vegas Summer League; rode the roller coaster at NY-NY Casino; faced JaVale McGee (some); and finally opted to sign with B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian League.]

Patty Mills, Portland Trail Blazers

[via Australia and the international scene; St. Mary’s College in California; taken 55th overall by the Blazers in 2009; rehabbed injury between the D-League’s Idaho Stampede and Portland during most of 2009.]

Jaycee Carroll, New York Knicks

[via Wyoming; Mormon mission in Chile; Utah State; 2008 NBA Summer League (Toronto Raptors); Banca Tercas Teramo (Italian League); 2009 NBA Summer League (New Orleans Hornets); C.B. Gran Canaria (Spanish League); 2010 Orlando Summer League (Boston Celtics); 2010 Vegas Summer League (Knicks).]

Patrick Ewing Jr., New York Knicks

[via his dad; the University of Indiana; the University of Maryland; drafted 43rd overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2008; traded to the Houston Rockets; traded to the New York Knicks in August 2008; waived by NY in late-2008; played with the Reno Bighorns of the D-League; 2009 NBA Summer League (Knicks); 2010 Orlando Summer League (Magic); 2010 Vegas Summer League (Knicks).]

Sean Sonderleiter, New Orleans Hornets

[via Iowa (2000-2004); Perry Lakes Hawks (Australian League, 2007-2008); Fort Wayne Mad Ants (D-League 2008-2010).]

Did you know …. ? That when the Wizards played the Hornets in Las Vegas, Sonderlieter said something that fired up JaVale McGee, John Wall & Co. into out-scoring the Hornets 30-16 in the third quarter … read about it here.
