Jordan Crawford: An Abbreviated History of Steez

Updated: November 3, 2012

“Steez” ain’t no big deal, if you got it. It’s no John Wall, coolin’, but steez is enough in it’s own right. And as evidenced above, Jordan Crawford has had steez since he was nine-years old. He’s had so much steez over time that LeBron James once tried to confiscate it. “Naw, we ain’t talk about it. I don’t even know him. … It happened a long time ago, it’s a big thing, so just let it ride,” said Crawford when asked, after being traded to the Wizards from the Hawks as a rookie, about his unnecessarily famed summer camp dunk over LeBron and if the two had ever spoken about it. When asked if he had it on video or if it had been confiscated, Crawford casually said, “Naw, it showed up on YouTube, I think you can go check it out.”

So much steez that Crawford once found some Galaxy Foamposites in his attic, according to him. As a rookie in Atlanta, Crawford acquired some of his steez from Hawks assistant coach Nick Van Exel, who had a lot of steez in his own right. Crawford’s tweets have also been translated by the WizzNuttz — not once, but twice. Now that’s steez.

This year’s “When it’s time to score, I score. That’s how it should be,” on Wizards media day was, “You know, I always feel if I can see the basket it’s a good shot,” when Crawford was a rookie with the Wizards. Mad steez.

The other day Jordan Crawford tried to explain his steez. He said, “style,” but that’s silly, because Crawford alone can’t even explain steez. But, the DC Sports Bog’s Dan Steinberg did learn about the 90s hip-hop in the process, so there’s that. In any case, let’s take the time to go through an abbreviated history of Jordan Crawford’s steez, whatever that means.
