The Last of Jordan Crawford?

As previously described at the onset of the game, it was pretty much like that with Jordan Crawford for the entire game. He wrapped a towel over his head, he slouched at 45-degree angles, and at the end of the night, he threw his jersey into the crowd. One lucky lady caught it. Skuttlebutt said that some guy offered her $200 for it, but he didn’t have the money on him. Thanks to John Townsend, who coaxed her over for a phone pic so all the Internets could witness, this might be the last you ever see of a Jordan Crawford jersey in D.C.

The Charge Board 2.0: How the Wizards Are Making Team Basketball a Competition
| February 9, 2013 | 4:01 pm

When Flip Saunders was still calling plays and running practices in D.C., he had some pretty good ideas for changing the team’s culture. One idea in particular stood out, one which science said was “subconsciously driving players toward team behavior through deeply rooted psychological mechanisms.”

Remember? From my story in February 2012:

Peer-reviewed science says there is an incentive for Wizards players to compete like winners. Before this 2011-12 season, the Wizards secured a new whiteboard to the far-right corner of the Wizards locker room: the Charge Board. Players who draw charges in both practice and official NBA games are celebrated on the chart, now crowded with red and blue basketballs (like buckeye leaf stickers on a chrome football helmet), the new standard by which respect and status is measured in D.C.’s pro hoops franchise.

No place like home? If you say so, lady.

The Kings have more wins at home (12) than the Wiz have on the season (11).
The Wizards haven’t beat the Kings in D.C. since their 136-133 OT win in 2010.

MVP

Do you wanna know who Emeka Okafor is playing better than right now?  The Lakers’ Dwight Howard. Ironic, huh? No way that anyone ever imagined reigniting the “No. 1″ debate from 2004, but Okafor’s outstanding play and Howard’s struggles in Los Angeles, but here we are. Okafor dominated Sacramento in the first quarter with 14 points and four rebounds. His midrange jumper was flowing and he was getting to the free throw line (six attempts, a team-high). He finished with a game- and season-high 23 points, plus 15 rebounds. Okafor’s presence was felt on the defensive end, and he helped limit the Kings to just seven offensive boards. Okafor probably deserved more touches in crunch time. I cannot believe that I just typed that. Read more »
