Ok….I’m glad they’re starting Andray Blatche (Etan Thomas is out with an ankle….Michael Redd is also out for the Bucks with an ankle). I still got hope for the kid and this time, it’s hope that this elevated status, and past poor performance of course, drive him to succeed.

If I could think of the perfect two words to describe Scott Skiles, it would be ‘piss ant’

Blogger Q&A: The Bratwurst – Milwaukee Bucks Blog
| November 5, 2008 | 8:31 pm

In anticipation of tonight’s game against Milwaukee, I covered the recent history between the Wiz and Bucks earlier…..now it’s time for some blogger Q&A. Jeramey from The Bratwurst Milwaukee Bucks Blog was kind enough to answer a couple questions about his team. Like to hear it? Well, here it go…..

1) Yi Jianlian is gone…..what kind of effect do you think he had on the Bucks’ bottom line? In this economy, it surely couldn’t hurt to have the support of a billion Chinese. Or….are you satisfied with Richard Jefferson and thought that the Bucks drafted Yi with the intention of trading him the whole time?

Not as big as you would think, judging from what I’ve heard. First off, if he made the team worse here (and he arguably did) he severely limited their revenue generating potential here stateside. Second, the huge numbers you saw reported for viewers in China have been highly debated. Finally, knock-off products are a huge problem in China, severely limiting the revenue generating potential for merchandise.

Washington Wizards Game Day: Bucking The History
| November 5, 2008 | 6:18 pm

The Washington Wizards play the Milwaukee Bucks in the land of the frozen tundra tonight. Recent Wiz history against the Bucks isn’t anything to brag about. On April Fools Day 2007 in Milwaukee, Caron Butler broke his hand on the backboard, and last season, he hurt his hip during another game in Brew City. In December ’05, Mo Williams did this…..but Gilbert returned the favor when he hit this January ’07 buzzer beater the night after the Wizards lost to the Bucks by 17. All-time, the Wizards are 73-100 against the Bucks….time to get crackin’.

But last year….

Game 31: Wizards @ Milwaukee

Michael Redd was out and the Wizards blew out the Bucks from the jump, leading 23-10 after one quarter. There was a Michael Ruffin sighting, the Bucks have a beat writer named Mike Hunt that Steve Buck couldn’t stop gabbing about, and an errant basketball hit a plump lady walking court-side with a full beer (damn, they took the video down). Nick Young had over a dozen peoples in the crowd (he’s got some sort of connection to Milwaukee), but that couldn’t match Caron Butler’s 40+ folks. Final: Wizards 101 – Bucks 77

Game 42: Wizards @ Milwaukee
Michael Redd was once again out for this game. The Wizards weren’t exactly playing well and the Bucks went on a 17-6 run to close out the 1st half up 40-37. In the 2nd half, Andrew Bogut had his way with Haywood (18 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists for the game) and former Wizards Awvee Storey and Ruffin made crucial appearances.

Previewing The NBA's Central Division According To Bloggers
| October 17, 2008 | 5:08 pm

Jeff from CelticsBlog.com is doing the grunt work to put together a comprehensive NBA preview from bloggers ’round the ‘sphere. The Atlantic Division Preview was first, the Southwest Division was second, and now the Central Division is out. Here are the highlights from the participating bloggers for each team, click on the blog links to see the full team preview:

Chicago Bulls

[Give Me The Rock]
Non-player goals would be to try to trade some expendable players to get help at the SG position. Yes, I know that Ben Gordon is on the team, but, while I can’t deny his scoring ability, at 6′ 3″ (and apparently a smaller 6′ 3″ than Derrick Rose) I’ve always felt his height was a liability and that the Bulls would have a very hard time making it through the playoffs with him as the go-to guy. Prediction: 42-40

[Blog-A-Bull]
One major goal is to get the team’s defense back to what it before last season, a top-5 unit that thrived on hassling opponents into bad shots and turnovers. With the personnel mostly constant from those happier times, the onus is on Del Negro to get the team motivated on that end of the floor. Likely years away from being a great offense, the return to a top defensive team is imperative if they hope to challenge for a playoff spot, which is the ultimate aspiration for the team this season. Prediction: 43-39

DC vs. Milwaukee: My City Can Beat Up Your City

So What Does Milwaukee Think of Arenas……and D.C.?

To make it clear, I’m not here to bash Milwaukee. After Gilbert’s recent comments in regard to Brew City (covered here in Part I: Gilbert Arenas doesn’t like Milwaukee, and that’s good for the NBA), the citizens of that good land naturally were driven to rebut DC’s Agent Zero.

Milwaukee, tell us how you really feel:

Gilbert Arenas doesn't like Milwaukee, and that's good for the NBA
| July 23, 2008 | 3:23 am

Gilbert Arenas doesn't like this photo of Milwaukee - flickr/compujeramey
Gilbert Arenas is the Brett Favre of blogging. He claims he’s going to take a hiatus, then gets sentimental and jumps right back in the game. In his latest entry, Agent Zero drops no love in the heart of Brew Hoop city.

Richard Jefferson going to Milwaukee …. HAHAHA! Oh man, now that is funny. When I heard that, I started laughing. Oh man, did I start laughing. You know why? Because every player hates Milwaukee. Nobody wants to live in Milwaukee. I’m sorry, Milwaukee, to come down hard on you, but no one in the NBA wants to play in Milwaukee.

The verbiage no doubt has the ears of Milwaukee (more on that later)…..and Gilbert will no doubt get booed the next time he ventures into Cream City……a budding rivalry between two NBA teams? (also considering of this or this and this) Some will claim that a rivalry is not a rivalry when the results are lopsided (such as this recent thing between the Cavaliers and the Wizards, you may have heard about it). They are wrong.

Rivalries exist on different levels: territorial (Duke-UNC), classical (Lakers-Celtics), instinctual mascot hatred (Redskins-Cowboys), league divisional (Cubs-Cardinals), etc…..there are a variety of rivalries for a diverse set of circumstances. Not all need to be predicated on wins and losses, although glory and defeat are a main factor. Rivalries exist for numerous on and off court reasons and can be temporary or stand the test of time.

Wizards React Quotes: Get Bucked, But Don't Sleep in the Heat
| April 4, 2008 | 9:01 pm

I’ll be checking out the Wizards-Heat game live and in person at the Verizon Center tonight…..assuming the Wizards don’t lose and thus lead me to challenging my computer to a drinking binge (he edged me out in a close one last time), look for the live blog (well, not live live) on Bullets Forever.

Hey, at least Miami still has South Beach….

Gilbert Arenas Goes Backwards: Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks
| April 2, 2008 | 11:12 pm

Like one of those so-called cool movies (not that I know an actual example), this is a tale that will be told backwards. It may turn disaster just like this Wizards game, but that would be fitting. The last play must bat lead-off. Frustrating, unnecessary mistakes, such as the one committed by Gilbert Arenas will keep the Washington Wizards from being a contender. Oh yea….that whole Curse O’…..(I won’t type it this time) – Gil comes back and three Wizards get hurt? Karma-Vodoo-Inferno-What?

Danta says that it was an InfernoMeridian Hill Park, Washington, DC

End of the Fourth Quarter

Eddie Jordan’s quotes after the game were very interesting: “I found out [about Gilbert playing]….he doesn’t really tell me, but that’s Gil……..Let’s say it wasn’t through normal, proper channels, but I found out. That’s it? Okay…….” Exit stage right. [What the hell kind of professionalism is that? From hissy-fits to angry auto drives to game plan surprises......Gilbert is like that fake can of nuts loaded with springy snakes.]

Well, the Wizards are back to normal. The offense looks like a poor-man’s Suns (which is pretty good) and the defense has lost it’s damn mind. Gilbert was named Comcast’s Player of the Game. Are you serious? This development disgusts me.

Did some scouting last night and watched the final 7 minutes of regulation, along with the overtime of the Milwaukee Bucks-New York Knicks game….in Beer Town. What was I thinking?

The Bucks went on to win 119-115 (the most points Milwaukee has scored all season).

Here’s what you need to know:

Wizards React Quotes: Hollywood Divorce and Jazzy Remorse
| April 2, 2008 | 4:01 am

I got home from the Washington Nationals opener just in time to catch the last 8 minutes (incl. OT) of the Wizards-Lakers game. I know, I know…..I gotta get a DVR – all the kids are doing it. Nonetheless, what I saw of the Nick Young show was highly entertaining. I was probably more into that game [meaning yelling loud enough to make my neighbors wonder] than I have been for any other this year. I could be labeled as a Laker-hater, but at least the Wizards covered the 9.

The Wizards-Jazz game? Read the live game blog if you dare. [Wizards Game #74 @ Utah Jazz] Surfing around the blogosphere, the obliteration seemed to be expected, especially with the absence of Caron Butler and Antonio Daniels due to injury (not to mention Gilbert and Etan). Yea, well maybe I expected it too. But it would’ve been nice to see the Wizards take some pride and get scrappy. Oh well. At least the Wiz are at…..home sweet home?

The Reach Quotes from Cali to Utah…….

Dig of the Week
This is where Abe Pollin’s insistence on not paying the luxury tax combined with the injury issues have really hurt this team……..From my seat, this team has needed a quick, defensive-minded point guard type coming off that bench all season and simply hasn’t had one. [Ivan Carter]
– Of course, criticism of Abe Pollin has been around the block and then some….including making several stops on my street.
