The Reaction: A Big Moment for Little Isaiah Thomas
| January 28, 2013 | 11:01 pm

Rapid reactions from TAI’s Adam McGinnis and John Converse Townsend, who saw the Washington Wizards fall to 11-32 after Kings PG Isaiah Thomas swished a last-second floater to win, 96-94.

MVP

Do you wanna know who Emeka Okafor is playing better than right now?  The Lakers’ Dwight Howard. Ironic, huh? No way that anyone ever imagined reigniting the “No. 1″ debate from 2004, but Okafor’s outstanding play and Howard’s struggles in Los Angeles, but here we are. Okafor dominated Sacramento in the first quarter with 14 points and four rebounds. His midrange jumper was flowing and he was getting to the free throw line (six attempts, a team-high). He finished with a game- and season-high 23 points, plus 15 rebounds. Okafor’s presence was felt on the defensive end, and he helped limit the Kings to just seven offensive boards. Okafor probably deserved more touches in crunch time. I cannot believe that I just typed that. Read more »

When Gheorghe Muresan Slapped Fives With Earl Boykins & Leftovers From Game 36 vs. Detroit
| January 16, 2010 | 6:55 pm

The above image is iconic in the history of the Washington Wizards/Bullets franchise. The 7’7″ Manute Bol, the 5’3″ Muggsy Bogues … it’s easy to see why.

And while the image below of the 7’7″ Gheorghe Muresan reaching out to slap fives with the 5’5″ Earl Boykins isn’t even close to being as iconic, it’s still pretty damn adorable.

Unfortunately, this scene had to come after yet another Wizards loss, their 24th of the season. The look on the kid’s face to the right says it all … notice his less than half-hearted attempt to give the Wizards a hand slap as they exit the court.

Wizards v. Bobcats: The Game Blog In Screen Shots Pt. 2
| March 26, 2009 | 9:33 pm

A great man once said that a picture is worth a thousand words…I could be wrong, but I think that great man was Jesus.

And, my game blogs, which have become noticeably sparse, tend to be very, very lengthy.

So, in lieu, I present what went down last night via screen shots.

Enjoy America.

Oh yea, part one of this is on Bullets Forever……go there first and then come back here.

Jazz Hands Slip Through Wizards Fingers: Game 68 Blog
| March 18, 2009 | 6:17 pm

Jazz Hands Slip Through Wizards Fingers: Game 68 Blog - Truth About It.netQ1

7:14: Andray Blatche gets blocked by Mehmet Okur…..a very sad scene to witness. Okur barely jumped, if at all, and Andray took it to the hoop like a four-year old girl chasing after a puppy.

4th Minute: JaVale McGee has got a couple nice offensive boards, but doesn’t use his body/leverage to his advantage. He’s trying to be all arms and hops. So on one, he missed a forced hook and on the second, he got blocked byOkur (who the hell is this guy, Mutombo?).

In the first…..Utah’s passing looks good (6 assists on 9 made FGs = Swiss Cheese Wiz D)….but Deron Williams has four turnovers (two on the first two possessions of the game) to only one assist.

Apathy Over Losing Mounts: Wizards Game 61 Blog at OKC Thunder
| March 5, 2009 | 4:59 pm
Typical scene from modern day Oklahoma
where the dust bowl continues.

Oklahoma Dust Bowl - flickr/Casino Jones
Started to watch the beginning of the Wizards-Thunder game last night…but fell asleep, bloggers need naps too. I’d intended on waking up at some point and watching from the start…..but then thought, am I really missing anything?

So, the game blog picks at the end of the 2nd quarter.

———————————-

Why do they play “Whomp, There It Is!” when good things happen at OKC games? (well, when Russell Westbrook does good things) Bet that’s the only hip-hop song (wait, is that song considered hip-hop?) that’s “safe” for the white people in Oklahoma.

As soon as I turn the game on, you got 10-0 Thunder runs, Wizards matador defense, Russell Westbrook dunks…..36-35 OKC.

Wizards Get Bucked: Game 59 Blog vs Milwaukee
| March 1, 2009 | 4:46 pm

Wizards Get Bucked - flickr/trekguyI watched most of the Wizards game before heading out for the night. They simply didn’t entice me to stay with their lack of energy, effort, and patience/ball movement on offense. So, watching the rest of the game on Sunday, I pick the game blog up here:

5:00 left in the 3rd, the Wizards are down 13 on the road….do they have what it takes?

Well, to start off, Songaila is scrapping, in the paint on the floor, in the midst of a fray of humanity, and comes away with the ball for an assist from his back to Caron Butler for a dunk. 72-61 Bucks.

4:16: Wiz get another turnover….Butler jets down the court, goes straight under the rim, puts Charlie Bell on his back and becomes a very easy target for a pass from Mike James. 73-63 Bucks.

Back to Reality: Wizards Game 52 Blog at Atlanta Hawks
| February 11, 2009 | 4:59 am

The Washington Wizards are back to the reality of losing - flickr/drp
Back to reality? We’ll see.

Q1

Wow, the Phillips looks emptier that the Verizon these days. The Hawks have the 4th best record in the East…..sad to say, Atlanta doesn’t deserve an NBA team.

11:45:
Caron misses his assignment to protect the hoop after Songaila goes to double Joe Johnson and Horford gets an easy dunk on Atlanta’s first possession.

Hmm….long missed jumpers from Caron, bad P&R defense from Mike James….S.O.S. (Groundhog Day) – 6-1 Hawks.

One Day We'll Look Back and Laugh: Wizards Game 46 Blog at Philadelphia
| January 31, 2009 | 4:23 am

one day the Wizards will look back and laugh at this season - Truth About It.net
Q1

You’d think that it’d get to the point where when Phil Chenier discusses ‘Keys to the Game’, he’d just say, “don’t lose” — but I guess that’d be lazy.
Tonight’s key: Mike James…yes, an NBA vagabond is our freaking key to the game.

8:43: Caron turnover trying to pass to Jamison….that was just a horrible angle…..basketball instinct diminishing.

7:32: I don’t understand how the Wizards can appear to be pointing and communicating, yet completely turn their back on Igoudala who gets a lob from Miller and dunks. 10-7 Sixers.

Oh Those Apathetic Wizards: Game 43 Blog at Portland Trailblazers

Well, who was I kidding with this? Watched the game this morning despite my protests….newsflash: we’re terrible. Keep reading.

Caron starts by shooting a three….miss…no surprise.

Poo-Poo Platter Game 42 Blog: Wizards at Lakers
| January 23, 2009 | 1:01 pm

Well….did we expect anything else? Thought so.

Q1

1st Laker Possession: McGuire is guarding Kobe (Reggie Miller calls D-Mac a defensive “Guru” whoa…easy there buddy…let the kid develop first)….he held his ground for the most part…..but still let Kobe get deep and he just missed the shot.

1st Wiz Possession:
D-Mac up top as distributor says Fratello….but Kobe is a rover and Dom misses an open mid-range J (had that hitch in his shot there)

D-Mac looks a little intimidated on D…flinching at every Kobe move.
