The Dougie, John Wall Dance 2.0
| November 23, 2010 | 2:28 pm

The Boss Man Ted Leonsis has spoken and I concur that from now on, the troll will starve.

However, I wanted to share the following video mashup that I created surrounding the Wall Dougie Dance or as I like to refer it to: The John Wall Dance 2.0.

The video includes:  commentary from Wizards players and Wall about his Dougie, hilarious Dougie banter courtesy of Wizards TV announcers Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier, Charles Barkley’s take on the Dougie and an exclusive interview with Cali Swag District about Wall’s smooth Dougie-ability. Because why not?

Time to Dougie Out…

Haters Hate, Trolls Troll: Remember, John Wall Is Just 20-Years Old
| November 19, 2010 | 12:30 pm

Midnight Madness had ended and the Wizards were funneling out the back of the Patriot Center. Al Thornton briefly chatted with family members on his way to the team chartered bus. JaVale McGee and Cartier Martin quietly filed by. Suddenly, a loud musical voice boomed from behind me and the lyrics were easy to make out, “Teach Me How To Dougie.” John Wall was singing the Cali District Swag hit at the top of his lungs while bobbing his head over and over to a beat in his head, since he was not wearing any head phones.

Hours earlier, as the Wizards were taking part in a drill, Wall barked to Kirk Hinrich, “Get em going out there, Kirk!” I was thoroughly impressed that a rookie in his first official NBA practice was not afraid to tell a veteran to get on their teammates. The Game Changer was no shrinking violet. (Kyle Weidie witnessed something similar in the Summer League with Wall getting after JaVale McGee)

Wall’s impromptu Dougie flow displayed his bubbly personality and youth. He is a freshly minted 20-years old, and I know that at his age, I was humming along to “Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, Can’t You See?”

These incidents provided an early glimpse into his persona. With the ball in his hands, during practice or during games, he is a team-oriented player with killer instinct. He wants to pound opponents at mach-one speed and hates to lose. HATES it. Off the court, he is a normal young man who likes to have fun by singing and dancing.

ShareBullets: JaVale McGee Cut From Team USA, John Wall Dancin’ Redskins & Mike James With A Megaphone
| August 15, 2010 | 4:46 pm

A D.C. picture, links and commentary …

[Howard Theater - 620 T St. NW - Washington, D.C. - K. Weidie]

By now you may know that JaVale McGee has been cut from Team USA … and it also served as another example of news coming directly from a player, via Twitter. This is somewhat disappointing (him being cut, not that word came by means of Twitter). Many signs/media reports gave you the feeling that McGee would at least be taken to Europe to participate in training and exhibitions leading up to the FIBA tournament in Turkey, and it would have been good for his development. Then again, maybe he didn’t want to go, knowing he wouldn’t make the final 12. Or perhaps the team thought it would be best for him to train stateside under the direction of the franchise. Regardless of the reason, a lot of eyes, D.C. and beyond, will be on McGee in 2010-11 because of this Team USA experience. If he becomes more of a student of the game, he can really be special.

Dan Steinberg conveys pretty much the gist of the Redskins’ Brandon Banks doing the John Wall dance after scoring a punt return touchdown in their exhibition opener against the Buffalo Bills. Banks did the dance in front of his boy from Raleigh, John Wall, no less.

Even the website of a Lexington, Kentucky NBC television station is covering Banks doing the John Wall dance.

John Wall does the John Wall Dance with Big Tigger
| June 24, 2010 | 11:04 pm

John Wall has been shuffled just about everywhere in MSG tonight. Kid probably just feels like he just played a game … but I’m betting the adrenaline of being the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft is probably helping him maintain.

Between the parade of media appearances and interviews, Wall took time to link up online to fans at the draft watching party at the Verizon Center back in D.C. — represented by none other than Big Tigger, the Wizards’ in-game DJ and all-around radio/television personality.

And such a link up on the web could not come without a rendition of the John Wall Dance. It’s a new media world folks.

Ernie Grunfeld’s Attempt at the John Wall Dance
| June 24, 2010 | 9:51 pm

While I’m in New York for the draft, Adam McGinnis is covering the goings-ons back in D.C. and brings the video below of Ernie Grunfeld’s post-John Wall selection press conference.

At the end, someone asked the Wizards team president to do the John Wall Dance.

No comment. But hey, at least he tried.
